Mit dem Wettbewerb möchte die Kulturabteilung der Botschaft der Republik Korea in Berlin Komponistinnen und Komponisten dazu einladen, ein Werk für koreanische und westliche Instrumente zu schreiben.

Auf diese Weise soll das kreative Schaffen junger Komponistinnen und Komponisten gefördert werden und das Repertoire von neuen Werken, die sich mit traditionellen koreanischen und westlichen Instrumenten auseinandersetzen, erweitert und weiterentwickelt werden.

Der Name des Kompositionspreises geht auf die in Deutschland lebende koreanische Komponistin Frau Prof. Younghi Pagh-Paan zurück, die in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten auf der Grundlage der traditionellen koreanischen Musik eine Pionierrolle in der internationalen Musikszene gespielt hat.

1. Teilnahmebedingungen

Personen, die nach dem 1. Januar 1976 geboren sind (unabhängig von der Nationalität)

2. Art der Komposition

a) 1 Werk für Ensemble (max. 6 Spieler) mit traditionellen koreanischen und westlichen Instrumenten, wobei der Fokus auf den traditionellen koreanischen Instrumenten liegt (Dauer: maximal 15 Minuten) oder
b) 1 Solokonzert oder 1 Konzert für mehrere Solisten für traditionelles koreanisches Orchester und westliche Instrumente (fakultativ), wobei mindestens einer der Soloparts für ein traditionelles koreanisches Instrument komponiert sein muss (Dauer: maximal 15 Minuten)

3. Einzureichende Unterlagen (Bewerbung nur per E-Mail möglich)

a) 1 Exemplar des offiziellen Bewerbungsformulars

b) Gesamtpartitur und Partien der einzelnen Instrumente
c) Werkkommentar (etwa 1 Din-A4-Seite)
d) Lebenslauf der Komponistin/ des Komponisten

4. Hinweise zum Einreichen der Unterlagen

a) Die Komposition muss in den letzten fünf Jahren entstanden sein.
b) Das eingereichte Werk darf veröffentlicht und/oder aufgeführt, jedoch noch nicht bei einem anderen Wettbewerb ausgezeichnet worden sein.


c) Nur ein Werk pro Person darf eingereicht werden.
d) Beim Einreichen der Partitur muss eine gesonderte Titelseite vorhanden sein, aus der der Titel des Werkes und der Name der Komponistin/ des Komponisten hervorgeht.
e) Anonyme Bewertung der Partitur. Deshalb auf der Partitur selbst nur Angabe des Titels der Komposition, nicht aber des Namens der Komponistin/ des Komponisten.
f) Bei fehlerhaften Angaben in den Bewerbungsunterlagen kann die Entscheidung noch nach Bekanntgabe der Ergebnisse widerrufen werden.

6. Bewertung und Bekanntgabe der ausgewählten Werke

a) Bewertungsverfahren: Beauftragung von einer aus drei Personen bestehenden Jury durch das Koreanische Kulturzentrum
b) Bekanntgabe der ausgewählten Werke: persönliche Benachrichtigung der einzelnen Kandidatinnen/Kandidaten und Bekanntgabe auf der Homepage der Kulturabteilung der Botschaft der Republik Korea
c) Die Entscheidung der Jury ist unanfechtbar.
d) Proben der Werke: 20.10. - 10.11.16
- Gesondertes Einstudieren der Werke durch das Gyeonggi Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra

The 2016 International Younghi Pagh-Paan Composition Prize

Through this competition, the Cultural Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Berlin would like to invite composers to create a work for Korean und Western instruments.

In this vein, the creative activities of young composers ought to be fostered and the repertoire of new works which deal with traditional Korean and Western instruments ought to be expanded and advanced.

The competition is named after the Korean composer Professor Younghi Pagh-Paan who has been living in Germany and who has created numerous new works on the basis of traditional Korean music in the past decades. She has been playing a leading role as a pioneer of the international music scene.

1. Conditions of participation

people who were born after 1 January 1976 (regardless of nationality)

2. Type of composition

a) 1 work for an ensemble (6 musicians maximum) of traditional Korean and Western instruments with a focus on traditional Korean instruments (duration: 15 minutes maximum) or

b) 1 solo concert or 1 concert for several soloists for traditional Korean orchestra and Western instruments (optional). At least one of the solo parts must be composed for traditional Korean instruments (duration: 15 minutes maximum).

3. Required documents (application is only possible via email)

c) explanation of the work (about 1 page)

d) CV of the composer

4. Note about the submittance of the documents

a) The composition must have been written within the last five years.

b) Works that were already publicly performed or had their public debut are admitted to this competition as long as they were not already awarded at other competitions.

c) Submittance of only 1 work per person

d) When submitting the score, there must be a separate cover sheet on which the title of the composition and the name of the composer are written.

e) The evaluation of the score is anonymous. Therefore, on the score, only the title of the composition should be included but not the name of the composer.

f) If any candidate submits any false information, his appointment as a winner may be canceled even after the announcement of the results.

6. Evaluation and announcement of the chosen compositions
a) evaluation method: commissioning of a jury by the Cultural Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea which consists out of three people
b) announcement of the chosen works: personal notification of the candidates and announcement on the homepage of the Cultural Department (www.kulturkorea.org)
c) The decision of the jury is unimpeachable.
d) rehearsal of the chosen compositions: 20 October – 11 November 2016
- separate rehearsal of the works by the Gyeonggi Provincial Traditional Music Orchestra
(The musicians of Western instruments will rehearse in Berlin.)

7. Awards
a) 1 person

- performance at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonics
- prize money: 4000 Euro + return flight ticket to Berlin (the cost for accommodation is not included)

b) 1 person

- performance at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonics

제1회 국제 박영희 작곡상 공모

주독일한국문화원은 한국 전통 국악기와 서양악기의 연주자가 어울려 연주할 수 있는 현대음악 양식의 작품을 공개 모집합니다.동∙서양의 악기들이 만들어 내는 새로운 음향 속에서 젊은 작곡가들이 자신의 정체성을 형성하여 창작활동을 하는 길을 지원하고자 합니다.이 작곡상의 명칭은 지난 수십 년간 한국전통음악을 바탕으로 국제적 음악교류에 앞장서온 재독 작곡가 박영희 교수의 뜻을 기리어 박영희 작곡상으로 하기로 하였습니다.

가. 국악기가 주요 파트/솔로로 연주되는 실내악(최대 6인, 최대 15분)
나. 국악 관현악 협주곡(최대 15분)

 - 선택 : 서양악기, 국악기 등 협연
  ※ 서양악기도 협연가능하나 국악기와 같이 협연하여야함.
